unBALANCED: My Entrepreneurship Story

Shirts. Everyone wears them.

A couple years back, a close family friend came up with an idea to reinvent the common shirt we all know and love. Eventually, my dad teamed up with him, and the shirt brand unBALANCED was ready to take flight. The inventive design of this shirt has one sleeve that is slightly shorter than the other, creating an unbalanced look (get it). This was the first time in my life that I saw passion and persistency take form in an idea. Seeing their entrepreneurial spirit first hand is something that I will never forget; it was engaging and inspiring. This brings me to my second point, which is why I decided to take ENT3003 this semester. I wanted to learn how to foster my diligence and passion into ideas, and to learn to truly think of myself as an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is something that reinvents, keeps us on our toes, and continues to better our communities and world. For all of these reasons and more I took interest in this class, and I can't wait for what's to come.

  1. Cassidy, I really enjoyed reading your story. This idea is so cool! I think the shirt can lead to conversation and spark interest hearing about your entrepreneurship story. Passion and persistency are definitely two key ingredients that I feel make a successful entrepreneur. You can't create something new if you don't firmly believe in what you are doing and vigorously try to attain your goal. This is relatable to my entrepreneurship story- the foundation of my special needs cheerleading team. I had to foster my diligence and passion for helping others into a reality, and I couldn't have accomplished my goals if I didn't keep pushing on through my fear of failure. Below you can find the link if you want to read more about it. I encourage you to take this shirt idea and form something similar in the future- its a great idea. Best of luck this semester, and I hope you gain keen insight in what it is like to be an entrepreneur.

  2. Cassidy, this is a really cool story! Not everyone can say they have witnessed a new idea come to life like you have and I think this gives you a great perspective. I too took this class in hopes of acquiring more personal skills. I think we come from two different approaches. You have the passion to be an entrepreneur but need to put that passion into ideas whereas I have ideas but seldom more forward with them. Hopefully, this class can give each of us the opposite things we need to gain to be successful.
